A Special Request

Some of you know that adoption has long been a desire of my heart. Orphan care in general has been the desire of my heart. I strongly believe that as the church we are called to care for the orphan and the widow and I will even go a step farther and say the sojourner or foreigner. God cares for people, the desolate, the hopeless, the hurting. He calls us to be His hands and feet. When people cry out He hears them and He also uses us to respond to their cry; in other words He mobilizes His church. We want to mobilize!!

As we shared in our last blog, God has been so faithful to provide for our missions trip to Ukraine through His church, through each of you. I would like to encourage you with 2 Corinthians 9:8-12 which says,

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written,
He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.”
He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way for all your generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.

Ben and I want to serve the orphan and we know we can not do it alone. Whether it is ministry in Ukraine, in America, or anywhere else around the globe, we need you! Let me be clear, it is God alone who stirs the heart. We are not all called to everything and praise God for that, but we are all called to do something, and this is how as a body we can get many things done because we each have a different role to play. Every time we have shared a need thus far God has been faithful to stir the hearts of His people. It is amazing watching the church mobilize. So here goes!

Here is our special request:

Max and Artem, ages 8 and 9.

This summer, Ben and I, Lord willing, will be hosting these two children from Ukraine. These boys need the love of family and to know of the love of Christ and we want to give it to them. We are working with a program called Guglielmos Hope. The boys will be arriving late June and staying until August. This is an opportunity for the boys to be part of a family and build relational skills that sometimes may be lacking in an institutional environment. We again would like to ask for your prayers, encouragement, time, talents (skills), support and financial contributions in order to bring the boys here. If you would like to donate you can go to http://www.guglielmoshope.com/donate and click the Donate button. ***IMPORTANT*** Please ensure that you enter the family and child name in the appropriate box so that the funds go toward our hosting. You will need to enter “Armstrongs – Artem and Max” It would be our great joy to care for these boys in our home and pray you would consider coming along the side of us and making it possible. We are on somewhat of a time crunch and need to raise the entirety of funds by May 15th. Please feel free to share this as you feel led, and if you have any questions or would prefer to donate with cash or check please contact us. We as a family want to advocate and be a voice for the voiceless, please join us!

Thank you from the Armstrongs!

“And let the beauty of the LORD our GOD be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.” Psalm 90:17

  1. Yes, there are many children available for adoption and some that are not. These sweet children need the love of a family.If you have any questions feel free to email me at aradabah@yahoo.com or follow the link for more details.

  2. Hi Ashlee this is great that you are opening your house and hearts to these sweet boys! I’m curious what they believe is happening? Will they be told they are going for a trip and coming back or do they think you will be their new family? Look forward to learning more…

    1. They are told it is a learning experience, an opportunity to visit America, learn English and to get to do some fun things over the summer with a host family. I can imagine that some kids believe it may lead to adoption based off of fellow children from the orphanage being adopted. Some of the children and have already aged out or are not eligible for international adoption so they make it clear it is only for the summer. For many children it does lead to adoption, kids that would have otherwise gone unseen, find forever homes through hosting.
